“Working in national accounts field sales, you’re on the go the whole time. My territory comprises independent retailers, cash & carries, multiple grocers and on trade customers, and it’s down to me to drive growth in all these markets. This means looking at the three ‘Ds’: display, displacement and distribution across all our brands. “The secret is to over-deliver on your promises, making the customer experience as memorable as possible. I genuinely believe that Carlsberg is more focused on delivering than any of our competitors – and when you do go that bit further for end users, you’re rewarded. One of my proudest moments was winning an industry trade incentive just four months after joining the company and going to see Westlife live at Wembley stadium. “The people here are really supportive and Carlsberg gives you every tool you need to help you hit your targets. As well as Excel and PowerPoint training, I’ve received ongoing coaching from my line manager and attended various on trade courses. But at the end of the day, it’s up to you how you perform. A positive, mental attitude and a will to win are essential. You should also be prepared to seek out new challenges. If you’ve got that kind of mindset, you can really get on.”
